Blaze - BAVA 15/16 - February 5
Congratulation to the Blaze for finishing second at the BAVA 14/15 Invitational!
The BAVA 15-1 Blaze won their pool and advanced thru the semi-finals and to the final game. At the end of the day, the Blaze placed second overall at the BAVA 15/16 Invitational.  In pool play, the Blaze went undefeated to earn the top seed out of Pool B.  The Blaze won both sets against the Baltimore Elite 16's that turned out to be their closest games in pool play 25-21 and 25-23.  The next opponent was DVA 15's and the Blaze won handily 25-6 and 25-15. The final match in pool play was against the BAVA Avalanche 16-2 in which the Blaze won both sets 25-20 and 25-12.  The semi-final was almost an all BAVA affair in which the BAVA Breakers 16-1 and BAVA Cyclone 15-2 advanced out of Pool A and the BAVA Blaze 15-1 and Baltimore Elite 16's advanced out of Pool B.  The Blaze played the Cyclone after the Cyclone won an exciting tie-breaking game. The Blaze advanced out of the semi-final by winning two straight sets 25-15 and 25-16.  In the final match against the BAVA Breakers 16-1, the Blaze seemed to have run out of gas losing two straight sets 15-25 and 9-25 after jumping out in front quickly in both games.

Cyclones - BAVA 15/16 - February 5
The Cyclones entered their second tournament at the BAVA 15/16 Invitational on Sunday February 5, 2012.  The Cyclones started the tournament against Delmarva Juniors 16-1 team.  Strong serving from #4 Kate, #14 Ani, #15 Samantha, and #21 Emily lead the Cyclones to win both sets (25-21 and 25-23).  The team earned eight aces during the match.

Next up for the Cyclones was our sister team, BAVA Breakers 16-1.  The girls fought hard but in the end the Cyclones weren’t victorious (13-25 and 8-25).  The last pool match for the Cyclones was against DCD 16.  #8 Shannon, #14 Ani and #15 Samantha provided great defense during the match and the team won the first set but came up short during the second set (25-20 and 15-25).  The team also earned several kills during the match from #4 Kate, #9Sarah and #33 Elizabeth.

It was déjà vu once again as these victories landed the Cyclones tied for second place which forced a head-to-head pool tiebreaker game. Again the team earned several kills during the game from #6 Meagan, #9 Sarah, and # 13 Ashton.   The Cyclones were down 16-19 and with #13 Ashton serving the team scored the next five points to give the Cyclones a 21-19 lead.  With #21 Emily serving the team scored the final three points of the match to win an exciting 25-22 victory and advancing them to the playoffs.

The playoffs found the Cyclones facing yet another sister team, BAVA Blaze 15-1.  The Cyclones fought hard in the playoffs with several blocks during the match from #4 Kate and #18 Hannah.  While the Cyclones weren’t victorious (15-25 and 16-25), it was a very exciting afternoon!  Congratulations to BAVA Cyclones for coming in second in their Pool and advancing to the playoffs and congratulations to the BAVA Breakers for winning the tournament and BAVA Blaze for coming in second!

Quakes - Columbia 12's - February 4
The Quakes opened their season on Saturday, February 4.  They played in the Columbia 12 Invite at the Volleyball House in Elkridge.  Their first match was against MVSA 12 Phoenix.  The Quakes played hard, but lost both sets.  The scores were 25-7 and 25-7.  This was the first club volleyball game for some of the players.  The Quakes lost a tough second match to the WPAN 12 Mountain Mommas.  The scores were 25-8 and 25-7.  The players improved with every set and began to settle into their game.  Club Delaware 12 rallied passed the Quakes in their third game.  The scores were 25-9 and 25-10.  The Quakes gave their all and showed great sportsmanship.  They earned a fourth place finish in Pool A.  The Quakes showed a lot of spirit.  They’ll build on the experience gained during their first tournament.  Expect great fundamental volleyball from the team at their next outing on February 25.  They host the BAVA 12 tournament at Truxtun Park Recreation Center in Annapolis.

Blaze - NVVA 15 - January 29
The BAVA 15-1 Blaze made the best of a good learning opportunity as they went winless in a very strong, open pool play.  The Blaze showed marked improvement with each game and were very competitive but could not turn that last corner to get the win.  With each game the Blaze meshed more and more and were playing as a team by the end of the day.  The first game of the day was against a very competitive MVSA team.  MVSA won both sets 17-25 and 20-25.  The second match against the Columbia Storm was again close but the Blaze could not convert a win: 18-25 and 22-25. The third match was against a very talented Potomac Elite team.  The Blaze were competitive the first set 19-25 but seemed to temporarily get discouraged in the second set 8-25.  The Blaze closed out well in the final game against the eventual Pool winners, NVVA ICE: 17-25 and 23-25.

Waves - NVVA 14's - January 22
Congratulation to the Waves for finishing third at the NVVA 14’s Volley like a Rock Star!
The BAVA 14 Waves won their pool and advanced into championship play. In pool play, the Waves won five games only losing two.  Their first match-up was with the NVVA Silver. It was close in both games. With scores of 25-23 and 25-20 the Waves came out victorious in both. The next opponent was MAVBC Central and the Waves came out strong winning 25-5 and 25-17. In their last pool play match the Waves faced a tough team and were forced to go all three games. They easily won the first game against WPVA letting them score only 8 to their 25. The second game was a hard fought match all the way through but WPVA came through at the end beating the Waves 25-23. WPVA kept their drive alive winning the tie breaker game15-11, and so, winning the match. Even with the loss, the Waves came out of their pool on top. Their championship play started with a nail biter. The game went back and forth but the Waves stuck it out winning 25-22. In the second game of the match the Waves pulled ahead at the end, again winning, this time 25-18.  With this win the girls advanced to the semi-final match. There they faced the WLVBC Sparx. The Waves had worked hard all day, but still fell short in the semi-final match. Their day was ended with two very close losses of  25-22 and 25-18. The girls had worked hard and put in many hours to make it to where they got. Congratulations! Great Job Waves!
